TKAM Found poem

"He's ruinin' the family"
He is not!
Not my father
He's civilized at heart

He wanted me to hear
An unfair advantage
Applies to the human race

If he was proud
They 'preciate what you did
Not okay to hate anybody
No particular race of men

I proved him a liar
Never thought these thoughts
Not my father
He's civilized at heart

  1. This poem Is from Scout's perspective on Atticus during the trial. She is thinking back to all the things people have said about her father, and putting in her own input. The majority of the poem is focused on her beliefs on Atticus against the beliefs of others. In a way this poem is just her defending her father against all the things people have said to and about him.

  2. I like how you started out with a negative comment that someone said about him. It helps show people's opinions about him and how Scout views him differently.

  3. I like how your poem was more focused on how the towns people saw Atticus through everything that was going on. It differed from mine as I focused more on how Scout saw her father to be the best and most amazing person.

  4. I like how this poem shows that even though most of the town is against Atticus' actions, he is still held high by Scout.
